..last summer we planned to visit our hometown, so called janma bhumi (birthplace) from karma bhumi (work place). We planned to visit our close relatives, friends after reaching our hometown in India, which is a usual trend in Indian Society. Also, we planned to visit the nearby sea shore and visit famous temples as we were traveling after one year. As the quote says, “Man proposes and God disposes”. We came to know about an accident in our family on the day of arrival. During the initial days, we were busy with consulting doctors and were trying to know the severity. After receiving all the test reports and the doctor’s final advice, he had to do surgery and was advised to stay in hospital for a minimum of two weeks. It was not possible for us to go out as planned when a family member was in hospital. So our plan, which initially was postponed, eventually canceled. Most of the time, we spent visiting the hospital and then back home.

Meanwhile, we were starting to receive some products that we ordered online to my hometown address before starting our vacation. It includes food items, clothes, books etc. With fewer distractions (like meeting other relatives or friends, visiting places, struggling with traffic etc.), I noticed keeping a book was a good option. So I picked one of them.

This book is about a household Indian product & its creator. I’ve used this product before and now, so I am a bit curious to know its journey. It is an autobiography of a famous Indian Entrepreneur, who created an International brand with a co-operative ecosystem when there was no buzz of start-up culture. As the book unfolded, my curious mind was rejuvenated and stunned by knowing about an entrepreneur’s journey, struggle, dealings with bureaucrats & private companies (both national & international). Many times we were impressed by many multi-national companies like Nestle, Apple etc. and their products. At the same time, I felt sorry for my low awareness about this indigenous company until this moment. Just amazed by the stats of this company and its contribution by making our nation self-reliant in many ways like improve forex exchange, uplift rural people’s lifestyle and so on. And now this company is a sponsor of international teams in major sports events.

Blessing in disguise, I got this opportunity to read and learn many things out of this great book. If things were normal during that vacation time, I could not have known all this by now.
